Puzzle pieces

From the day we're born, the pieces of the puzzle called life begins to fill. It starts with the love from our parents and family. At some point everyone feels loneliness and sadness. We try to fill these blanks, searching for meaning. No one knows the future. Often humans are preoccupied with the future and don't take time to be present. This poem is about taking time to be present and looking at what is in front of you. Sometimes the puzzle pieces present themselves. If you let nature in, it can fill in the loneliness with joy. Pure Joy In an old photo, a barefoot boy smiles his foot is black with adventure how many hours did he run what games did he play what forest did he explore   Every time I hold the picture I ask "can I smile that bright again?" can I run freely with no direction run until the sun sets lay back, accomplish nothing It seems I spent decades pouring myself into a home filling the kitchen with spices nourishing hunger, folding laundry wings soar a...

First time writing a song in chinese

After high school I starting learning to play the guitar. I've always loved music and my tastes vary widely. I don't care about genre.  I'll listen to any music and give it a chance. As long as the artist is singing their hearts out, I try to hear them. Once I learned the basic chords, music theory and song structure, I started writing songs for fun. Most of them were silly and forgettable, but I enjoyed it. A few weeks back, I decided to see if AI song generators had made significant improvement and they have. I used a few of the poems to generate songs and they surprised me. You still need to understand basic song structure. If you give AI lyrics that don't make sense or don't fit neatly into standard song structure, it produces terrible music. This is the first time I've tried to write song lyrics in Chinese. It turned out better than I expected and the generator produced a decent song. Eternal Spring 天天想看到你的微笑眼睛, 星夜我用我的心抱你的心, 当雪冻结草地我会保持你, 月月我种万万粉色的菊花, 你找到我, ...

How love is formed

I've always loved poetry. Growing up, I watched a lot of Hong Kong wuxia dramas. A common trope is the hero recites a poem to mark a moment. In some ways, it's like Shakespeare characters reciting a monologue. The most famous Shakespeare monologue might be "to be or not to be." For me, chinese poetry is distinct and different than english poetry. In English, we have lots of connective words and phrases. In chinese poetry it isn't necessary. For me, chinese poetry is closer to the raw feelings and imagery than english. 陶艺师 双手揉 黏土, 圈圈向天爬, 太阳烤表格, 海天油漆爱
